BSL Studios would not exist without our sister company, By Sophia Lee. What began as a small blog written from her college dorm room in 2018, Sophia and her team grew BSL into a website that helps more than 1 million monthly readers decorate, organize, and clean their dorm rooms, apartments, and now, homes!

After surpassing BIG goals before she was 25, Sophia set her sights on expanding her love for design and architecture. She always sensed the midwest aesthetic was stuck in the past, so she decided to fill the gap. Today, BSL Studio overhauls and restores spaces into homes that feel elevated without sacrificing character for families to live happily ever after.

From dorm rooms to dream homes.

We closed on a 1927 Tudor in Whitefish Bay, WI.

April 2021:

Months were spent planning every detail for the restoration.

May-June 2021:

The production company began filming the entire process.

July 2021:

All of our plans were approved first round with the help of our general contractor, Kate, and architect, Joan.

August 2021:

It’s finally demo day and getting the house down to the studs.

October 2021:

Construction is in full swing.

November 2021:

The new addition is added, while window delays led us to add more unique features.

December 2021:

The wall came down, and we finally had an open floor plan.

January 2022:

Drywall and windows were installed while we finalized the last design details.

February 2022:

With our deadline approaching, all of the finishing touches were completed up until the last minute.

March-April 2022:

Move-in day—it was time to make this house feel like a home.

May 2022:

Our labor of love hit the market, and we began searching for our next house to restore.

June 2022:
